Dr. Love is a globally-recognized leader in using integrative approaches to assess how and why physiological and genomic responses enable individuals and populations to stay ahead of rapid environmental change. His lab’s unique approach of applying evolutionary-based frameworks in at-risk ecosystems such as the Canadian Arctic and the Great Lakes is providing key predictive information to assess whether species have the capacity to adapt to rapid change.
Dr. Love and his students funded by the GEN-FISH program will be using the Fish Health Toolkit to assess how physiological responses influence the performance and success of ecologically, commercially, and culturally important fish species in the face of environmental change. His research team will work closely with partners and end-users to co-design and integrate their shared needs and goals to ensure these genomic Toolkits have the biggest impact possible in promoting effective management in at-risk systems.
