Professor Peres-Neto is one of the world’s leading researchers in the development and application of ecological statistics and ecoinformatics. The work that Dr. Peres-Neto and his research team is focusing on has helped spatial and statistical ecology become a central research theme in ecological research today.

GEN-FISH will allow Peres-Neto’s research group to understand with much greater accuracy how fish communities are structured by their changing environments and how they are impacted by non-native species. The outcomes of their research will allow the generation of predictive models to aid conservation and management efforts. Peres-Neto is the chair of the Data Management Committee of GEN-FISH.

With increasing threats to the aquatic environment, it is essential that we also evolve our technologies to identify issues and potential solutions quickly.
