He specializes in the role acoustics play in fish communication and the ways the changing underwater soundscape affects fish populations in marine and freshwater environments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Working with two GEN-FISH students, Dr. Higgs will examine the damaging effect of underwater noise on sensitive fish populations. He will first assess transcriptional responses and then use field assays to determine the degree of stress on wild fish populations.
