Dr. Karpowicz studies circadian rhythms in the intestines of animals ranging from Drosophila, to humans, to Chinook salmon. His research involves collaborations in North America, Europe, and Japan, with the goal of advancing the study of circadian science in biology and biomedicine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Depending on the time of day, the transcriptome (which genes are turned \u201con\u201d or \u201coff\u201d) of a healthy vertebrate can change by >40%. This means circadian biology is a critical biomarker of overall fish health and performance and, so, is an essential component of GEN-FISH\u2019s Fish Health Toolkit. The Karpowicz Lab will aid in the construction of this gene chip to incorporate circadian gene expression to detect fish health biomarkers accurately.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
