Joe is the GEN-FISH Project Manager and Financial Administrator who brought 8 years of Research Finance experience and decades of general financial administrative experience to the project. He holds a Masters of Arts in Economics and a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree from the University of Windsor. Over the past several decades he has focused on various facets of the accounting cycle and is extremely proficient in financial information systems and data analysis. Joe has been involved with GEN-FISH as the Project Manager since the official start date of the GEN-FISH Project on Jan 1, 2020.

As the Project Manager and Financial Administrator, Joe is primarily responsible for the gathering of the financial data from the 13 partner universities in preparation of the project’s quarterly financial reports that are filed with Genome Canada, Genome Quebec, and the Province of Ontario. In addition, he works extremely closely with the Research Coordinator and Communications Coordinator to ensure that all key personnel are current with critical project information. He is also responsible for the coordinator of the semi-annual Research Oversight Committee report and presentation.

With increasing threats to the aquatic environment, it is essential that we also evolve our technologies to identify issues and potential solutions quickly.
