Dr. Li combines economic theory and behavioural approaches to understand the economic and political context of a problem. Her current projects focus on innovation adoption in an agri-environment context. Dr. Li has published 25 peer-reviewed articles in the past four years.

With the help of two GEN-FISH graduate students, Dr. Li will be able to conduct economic experiments with potential end-users to study their innovation adoption preferences and behaviour. Dr. Li’s team will also quantitatively assess social, economic and regulatory factors that impact the social acceptance and end-user adoption of the GEN-FISH toolkits. This work will help ensure widespread use of these new technologies for the future health of Canada’s freshwater fish population.

With increasing threats to the aquatic environment, it is essential that we also evolve our technologies to identify issues and potential solutions quickly.
