Dr. MacIsaac is a globally recognized expert in the field of Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS). His lab has published extensively on the introduction processes of AIS, as well as genomic factors driving invasion success. MacIsaac’s work has contributed to global changes in ballast water regulations and he continues to be widely consulted for his expertise.

Dr. MacIsaac’s role in GEN-FISH will be to validate the application of the Fish Survey Toolkit for the presence and impact of invasive freshwater fish species in Canada. GEN-FISH will provide MacIsaac research access to validated and reliable eDNA tools for rapid assessment of invasion processes.

With increasing threats to the aquatic environment, it is essential that we also evolve our technologies to identify issues and potential solutions quickly.
