Dr. Nguyen is a leader in studying and understanding knowledge mobilization in fisheries management and has expertise in understanding the human dimensions of fisheries. She is an interdisciplinarian and works at the interface of natural and social sciences to tackle social-ecological issues.

With the help of a graduate student, Dr. Nguyen will identify challenges and enablers to the adoption of eDNA as a fisheries management tool. She will explore perceptions and attitudes towards the use of eDNA as a fisheries management tool including social and ethical acceptance of eDNA technology. This work will inform potential implications of eDNA and other genomic-based technologies in fisheries management.

With increasing threats to the aquatic environment, it is essential that we also evolve our technologies to identify issues and potential solutions quickly.
